Role Overview
Our client seeks a VP of Risk – Head of Risk to spearhead initiatives related to managing energy market, acquisition & asset risks. The VP of Risk – Head of Risk would collaborate with leadership to formalize operational guidelines & keep track of data streams within the company.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Create tactics to help achieve company objectives
- Oversee risk areas ranging from credit to operations
- Lead the supervision of transaction procedures, contract management, & risks related to asset acquisition or development
- Verify that comprehensive risk evaluations are conducted & that asset, product, & transaction valuations are accurate
- Develop & implement resource plans & strategies for the risk department
- Ensure that all IT systems & procedures align with risk management protocols
- Determine essential reporting indicators & data points
- Support with providing a neutral assessment of transaction-related strategies for company staff
- Confirm that all risk management guidelines are followed
- Monitor & report on activities related to risk management, including those related to credit
- Establish objective criteria for assessing capital risk
- Collaborate with staff across the company
- Enable the company to assess its anticipated & actual achievement of goals
Qualifications
- Experience leading a risk management department within the energy sector
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management or related field
- Master’s degree is preferable
- Strong track record of success in risk management in areas such as clean energy development & the ownership of assets
- Experience related to retail energy & the trading of energy commodities
- Ability to develop a high performing team
- Excellent management & leadership skills
- Understanding of regulations & rules within the energy industry, corporate policies & legal requirements, as well as accounting principles
- Strong interpersonal & financial risk analysis skills
- Ability to travel up to one-quarter of the time
