Role Overview

Our client seeks a Chief Accounting Officer to handle controller duties & manage accounting operations & related compliance at a fast-paced, quickly growing company. The successful candidate will have experience handling accounting for construction agreements & project costs. They will be detail-oriented & have exceptional analytical, communication & relationships management skills, as well as a strong work ethic. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure financial reporting compliance
  • Successfully complete financial statement audits
  • Ensure that tax & financial reports are completed in a timely manner
  • Methodically gather requisite information & metrics
  • Oversee & provide recommendations for less experienced team members
  • Manage account operations staff & related systems, payroll accounting, accounts payable & reconciliations
  • Ensure all accounting operations are compliant with federal & state laws
  • Provide guidance on technical accounting matters, including with the support of third party consultants
  • Work collaboratively with the finance division & other business units
  • Develop & share both internal & external financial statements
  • Handle controller responsibilities
  • Supervise several employees as well as external accounting firms

Qualifications

  • Accounting management experience with a large portion of experience related to the operation & development of clean energy assets
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Master’s degree in business administration or certified professional accountant designation is preferable
  • Prior public accounting experience is preferable
  • Demonstrated understanding of key accounting principles
  • Exceptional communication & relationship management skills
  • Strong analytical, management & technology skills, ranging from Microsoft Office products to general ledger programs & other business-related platforms
  • Prior experience successfully working remotely
  • Access to activities in the Northeastern U.S. is preferable
  • Highly driven & a self-starter
