Role Overview

Our client seeks a Sr. Director of Federal Programs to drive policy & advocacy efforts while establishing & maintaining partnerships to support the expansion of community solar programs. The position involves collaborating with federal agencies & other stakeholders to advance industry goals. The successful candidate will be proactive & thrive in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Advocate for federal legislation & agency actions impacting community solar
  • Build & manage national partnerships & federal opportunities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop & promote community solar policies
  • Manage consultants & other third parties
  • Lead federal policy efforts
  • Coordinate participation in federal proceedings
  • Support communications & advocacy planning

Qualifications

  • Federal policy experience, ideally in energy or environment
  • Proactive, politically savvy, & thrives in a fast-paced setting
  • Proven success in shaping & advocating for federal legislation or policy
  • Expertise in renewable energy advocacy
  • Experience working with federal agencies & other government entities
  • Skilled at managing internal teams & third parties
  • Ability to achieve goals via government engagements
  • Comfortable engaging with a wide range of audiences
  • Capable of managing stakeholder input
  • Ability to develop policy positions with leadership & the policy team
  • Experience in representing industry interests
  • Strong communication skills
  • Deep knowledge of energy issues
  • Experience in federal policymaking
  • Open to travel about one-quarter of the time
  • U.S. work authorization
