The Role
Our client seeks a Senior Director, VP of mergers and acquisitions (M&A / Business Development), to report to the Senior VP of Business Development and work with a variety of internal teams including legal, finance and development. This position will be responsible for managing, sourcing and closing storage and solar merger and acquisition transactions. These duties will range from one-time asset purchases to long-term acquisitions.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work in close proximity with organizational leadership to ensure M&A strategy is established and executed effectively
- Meet annual growth targets and goals related to budgeting and financial planning
- Manage the M&A activities, which can include various tasks such as offtake support, transaction execution and sourcing
- Manage collaboration efforts with both internal and external consultants to ensure acquisition opportunities are closed
- Keep track of all industry trends related to pricing and otherwise
- Take care of asset purchase agreement activities, including origination, negotiation and structuring
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Team to add value to the company’s long-term Business Development team growth and strategy
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- Master’s degree/MBA is not required, but is preferred
- Experience working within the U.S. power markets with a focus on commercial transactions, handling growth strategies and working on business development opportunities with partners
- Proven record of closing and developing relationships and networks within the utility-scale solar sector
- Well-developed project management abilities
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment focusing on transactions
- Able to lead discussions with both internal and external stakeholders
- Comfort reporting projects and strategies to the investment committee
- Proven record with negotiating commercial transactions
- Strong sense of urgency and analytical skills
- Able to work independently and pay attention to details
- Strong problem-solving skills and performance standards
- Fast learner who is flexible in a constantly changing environment
- Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize tasks based on urgency and need
- Able to organize schedules and workload to ensure maximum output effect
