Role Overview

Our client seeks an Assistant General Counsel to handle legal matters related to a large amount of complicated energy transactions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work independently to strategically plan, oversee & manage complex project transactions
  • Evaluate areas that are essential to the company’s business
  • Develop & revise budgets related to external counsel, as needed
  • Provide guidance to attorneys & other staff with less experience
  • Support more experienced & senior lawyers
  • Manage relationships with business units & external counsel
  • Develop creative & strategic ideas to ensure successful execution of projects

Qualifications

  • J.D. or L.L.B. from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice in the necessary jurisdictions
  • Experience in transactional energy work, preferably related to commodities
  • Ability to handle a high volume of complex legal matters
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with financial major trading documents preferred
  • Experience with other transactional documents, such as NDAs, preferred
