Role Overview
Our client is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its finance team during a critical phase of organizational build out. This role is designed to strengthen the company’s accounting infrastructure as it scales a growing portfolio of utility-scale BESS projects. The Accounting Manager will introduce a key layer of leadership between the Controller and staff accountants, improving processes, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting the complexity of project-based accounting. The position offers a unique opportunity to step into a high impact role where foundational systems, processes, and team structure are still being built.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting processes
- Manage and mentor a team of staff and senior accountants, providing guidance, oversight, and professional development
- Serve as a key intermediary between the Controller and accounting staff, ensuring alignment, accountability, and execution
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial statements
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by the team
- Support the preparation of internal and external financial reports in accordance with GAAP
- Partner with the Controller to improve accounting processes, controls, and systems to support company growth
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of internal controls and accounting policies
- Collaborate cross-functionally with project finance, development, and asset management teams to support project-level accounting for BESS assets
- Support audit processes, including coordination with external auditors and preparation of audit deliverables
- Assist with technical accounting matters, including areas relevant to renewable energy and energy storage projects (e.g., capitalization, revenue recognition, and project structures)
- Contribute to the build-out of scalable accounting infrastructure, including systems, workflows, and reporting frameworks
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, tax, and reporting requirements
Qualifications
- 5–8+ years of experience in accounting, with a mix of public accounting and industry experience preferred
- Strong foundation in technical accounting and GAAP
- Prior experience in renewable energy or energy infrastructure required
- Experience managing or mentoring accounting staff
- Proven ability to operate in a fast paced, evolving environment with increasing complexity
- Strong attention to detail and ownership over financial accuracy
- Experience supporting audits and working with external auditors
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred or in progress)
- Systems experience (ERP, reporting tools) preferred
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship
- Ability to work in the office in Miami 4 days a week
