Vice President, Renewable Energy Project Finance

Role Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced project finance professional to lead and support capital-raising efforts for large-scale renewable energy and storage projects. This highly collaborative role will manage complex transactions across debt, equity, and tax equity, while overseeing financial modeling, due diligence, and stakeholder reporting. The position offers significant exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to contribute to hundreds of millions of dollars in near-term financing that will accelerate clean energy deployment nationwide.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Take an active role in every phase of a financing transaction, from initial evaluation and feasibility analysis through structuring, negotiation, and closing
  • Work closely with both internal teams and outside partners such as developers, legal counsel, technical consultants, lenders, and EPC contractors
  • Partner with senior members of the Project Finance group to structure and secure funding across debt, tax equity, and equity capital sources
  • Develop and refine detailed financial models, performing economic assessments for assets in construction, early-stage development, and acquisition opportunities
  • Create tailored materials and presentations for internal stakeholders, capital providers, and the company’s investment decision-makers
  • Manage the flow of information for investor processes, including due diligence trackers, consultant deliverables, and required third-party documentation for various funding rounds
  • Evaluate new development and acquisition prospects, providing in-depth analysis and recommendations as needed, with a primary emphasis on project finance and selective involvement in M&A activities
  • Monitor industry-specific market drivers and policy developments such as regulatory updates, trade measures, and national renewable energy targets
  • Coordinate with internal departments to meet ongoing financing obligations
  • Review proposed changes to critical project agreements and work with financing counterparts to obtain necessary approvals
  • Support ongoing relationships with investors and portfolio management teams during both construction and operational phases
  • Ensure compliance with financing agreements and preparing required deliverables such as performance updates, tracking tools, and financial reports

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in financing renewable energy projects, including hands-on experience with tax equity transactions
  • Skilled in creating, updating, and reviewing complex financial models, and capable of distilling results into clear economic insights
  • Genuine commitment to pursuing a long-term path in clean energy, infrastructure development, and/or capital markets
  • Comfortable operating in a deal-driven setting with deadlines and priorities shaped by active transactions
  • History of thriving in collaborative teams, taking full responsibility for workflows, and providing guidance to less experienced colleagues
  • Strong people skills, high energy, results-focused mindset, and an organized, methodical approach to work with excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Meticulous attention to accuracy with the capacity to prioritize effectively in a dynamic, high-speed environment
  • Able to exercise sound judgment when managing sensitive information and engaging with external stakeholders
  • Familiarity with debt arrangements, tax equity structures, and partnership tax considerations is highly advantageous
  • Knowledge of valuation tools and metrics such as discounted cash flow, net present value, internal rate of return, and cost of capital to support investment analysis
  • Adaptable and resourceful, with the ability to excel in a fluid, entrepreneurial workplace
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
