Vice President, Origination


Our client was established over a decade ago by a major global private equity manager that is heavily invested in energy. They are a national company that designs, develops, finances & constructs decentralized power generation systems for commercial & industrial companies. Fast forward to today, our client is owned by an international investor in sustainability initiatives, which has enabled the company to have reliable access to funding from key investors.

Role Overview

Our client seeks a Vice President of Origination to spearhead initiatives to develop more leads for new client relationships, research & present solutions, manage customer relationships & negotiate contracts. The successful candidate will be able to work collaboratively with other team members, including those in finance, legal & development.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Help the company to achieve its origination targets
  • Focus on developing new customer opportunities throughout the country
  • Support with generating leads with companies looking to decarbonize their businesses
  • Listen to clients to understand their goals & develop solutions to meet these goals
  • Propose solutions that meet the requirements of our client’s investors
  • Work cohesively with management as well as internal teams, ranging from legal to operations to development
  • Spearhead responses to requests for proposals
  • Negotiate contracts such as power purchase agreements
  • Achieve & surpass company targets
  • Leverage systems such as Salesforce
  • Support with strategy on pricing & contract terms
  • Maintain an understanding of industry trends, legislation, regulations & competitor tactics
  • Consistently travel to meet with current & prospective customers


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Renewable energy business development experience
  • Experience developing & sharing presentations
  • Complex negotiation experience, including with power purchase agreements
  • Strong understanding of domestic energy markets
  • Managerial experience
  • Excellent communication skills – both written & verbal
  • Exceptional analytical skills
  • Understanding of clean energy project financial modeling
  • Collaborative & respectful
