Role Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Real Estate & Energy Law Associate to join its growing practice. This attorney will work on a range of energy development and commercial real estate matters, including transactions related to renewable energy projects and related land use issues. The role offers significant responsibility, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to contribute to both the Real Estate and Energy practice groups.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on legal matters related to renewable energy projects including solar, wind, storage, and transmission developments
  • Support land acquisition, site control, and development activities for utility-scale and distributed energy projects
  • Structure and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, leases, easements, and other real estate transactions
  • Assist with permitting, land use, and regulatory considerations affecting energy infrastructure projects
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex transactional documents related to real estate and energy development
  • Collaborate with partners and clients on sophisticated commercial real estate and project development matters
  • Provide strategic legal guidance to clients navigating energy project development and real estate transactions
  • Contribute to the continued growth of the practice through client service, relationship development, and business development initiatives

Qualifications

  • Several years of legal experience in energy, infrastructure, or commercial real estate law
  • Experience advising on renewable energy projects such as solar, wind, energy storage, or transmission infrastructure
  • Strong background in commercial real estate transactions, including purchase and sale agreements and leasing
  • Familiarity with land acquisition, permitting, and development issues within the energy sector
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex transactions and client relationships
  • Active membership in the Illinois Bar in good standing
  • Strong academic credentials
