Role Overview
The Associate will lead and manage key aspects of transaction evaluation, including due diligence coordination, financial analysis, and initial investment assessment for acquisition opportunities. This role also involves supporting the execution of project financings and contributing to activities across our client’s broader development portfolio. The Associate should be capable of handling sophisticated, detail-oriented work with a high degree of autonomy, while collaborating with and receiving guidance from senior team members as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Evaluate solar and energy storage assets for acquisition by developing detailed financial models, assessing potential risks and upsides, and preparing investment recommendations for internal review, in collaboration with cross-functional team members
- Participate in small, agile deal teams focused on acquisitions, contributing to seller discussions, managing financial modeling, performing diligence reviews, coordinating external consultants, and assembling materials for investment approval
- Assist in the structuring and execution of portfolio-level financing transactions, including debt and tax equity, by supporting model development, preparing investor-facing materials, and contributing to diligence efforts and documentation processes
- Partners with the development team to analyze projects at various stages, creating in-depth financial assessments, identifying key considerations, and presenting proposed opportunities for internal evaluation
- Serves as a point of coordination for internally originated projects, working closely with project leads, maintaining and refining portfolio-level financial models, overseeing diligence workflows, engaging third-party partners, and preparing investment materials
- Contributes to additional initiatives across the organization on an as-needed basis, supporting other teams and strategic priorities within the company
Qualifications
- At least four years of experience in renewable energy investing, acquisitions, or project finance
- Experience building and refining advanced Excel models, including detailed financial forecasts and valuation analyses
- Ability to support or manage complex transactions involving multiple stakeholders, advisors, and workstreams
- Experience conducting thorough due diligence on assets and reviewing financial models to ensure accuracy of assumptions and data
- Skilled in preparing clear investment summaries, presentations, and supporting materials for internal and external audiences
- Familiarity with solar, battery storage, or related clean energy sectors is strongly preferred
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving capabilities
- Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and drive workstreams from concept through execution
- Solid understanding of clean energy project development, financing structures, and market dynamics
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across teams, leadership, and external partners
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship
- The ability to work two days in the office per week
