Director of Investments

The Role

Our client seeks a Director that will work with investments related to renewable financing. This position will work with the investment group to build and manage the company’s portfolio. Investments that will be worked on include energy storage, solar and distributed generation projects. Major responsibilities of the position will include transaction structuring, execution and negotiation of origination and business development activities. The candidate for this position will also prepare and review transactions as well as address risks and mitigation plans for transactions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage transaction structuring and negotiations of transaction documents
  • Coordinate with the investment team to provide clients a positive experience
  • Take part in transaction origination by participating in conferences and trade associations
  • Help develop origination approaches
  • Create internal transaction materials and ensure you identify economic terms, material risks and strategic rationales
  • Oversee teams who are responsible for transaction documentation
  • Lead all relevant financing processes related to investment project transactions such as financial modeling, negotiating documents and investor due diligence oversight
  • Work with the portfolio management and risk management teams to provide expertise in portfolio assets and investment concerns

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year institution
  • CFA and/or an MBA are not required, but are preferred
  • Track record of executing multiple complex energy project transactions from start to finish
  • Prior experience negotiating transactions related to structured debt and equity investments
  • Extensive experience in finance related to the sustainable energy industry
  • Ability to show comfort and familiarity with origination of financial transactions with previous clients as well as finance transactions and documentation
  • Careful attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Experience in banking, energy, tax equity or consulting within the energy / utilities sector
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to work independently and with a variety of individuals including vendors at various levels throughout their organizations
  • Track record of reliability and dependability in previous positions
