Role Overview
Our client is seeking a Director, Project Finance to join its expanding finance team. This individual will play a key role in originating, structuring, and executing project financings across a growing portfolio of utility-scale energy storage assets. The Director will work closely with senior leadership to support transaction execution, capital formation activities, and financing strategy across the business. The ideal candidate will bring significant renewable energy financing experience and a demonstrated track record of independently leading complex project financings from origination through close.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the structuring and execution of project finance transactions, including debt, tax equity, and structured equity financings
- Take a leading role in financing activities across a growing pipeline of utility-scale renewable energy projects
- Structure and negotiate commercial terms with lenders, tax equity investors, and financing counterparties
- Lead transaction execution, including financial modeling oversight, diligence, structuring, documentation, approvals processes, and closing activities
- Manage multiple transactions concurrently while ensuring high quality execution across all internal and external workstreams
- Build and maintain relationships with banks, tax equity providers, institutional investors, and financing partners
- Mentor and support junior members of the finance team
- Coordinate closely with development, legal, accounting, engineering, and asset management teams to advance transactions
- Support the evaluation of acquisition and development opportunities, including valuation, structuring, and return analysis
- Support broader corporate financing initiatives, as needed
- Prepare and present materials to senior management, investors, lenders, and other stakeholders
- Oversee diligence processes, third-party consultants, and transaction documentation
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in renewable energy project finance, structured finance, investment banking, or capital markets
- Proven track record executing complex renewable energy project financings, including debt and tax equity transactions
- Deep understanding of tax equity structures, capital stacks, and transaction execution processes
- Strong relationships with lenders, tax equity providers, and financial institutions preferred
- Experience independently leading transactions from origination through close
- Ability to operate strategically while remaining highly hands-on in execution
- Prior experience mentoring junior professionals or leading transaction teams
- Experience within a high-growth renewable energy platform preferred
