VP of Development

The Role

Our client seeks a VP of Development to help to establish new, and enhance existing, relationships with developers in the renewable energy market. To meet these goals, this role will lead a corporate development team and have constant coordination with various team leaders including those from the finance and legal teams. This position will primarily be responsible for work on sourcing, negotiating and closing on renewable energy facilities across North America.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop corporate relationships with renewable energy developers
  • Work on risk and mitigation strategies
  • Help with building financial models to evaluate and assist with investment decisions
  • Support with project management and due diligence
  • Create memos, corporate models and reports as needed for the management team
  • Stay in tune with all trends in related markets

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field such as Finance or Economics
  • Master’s degree not required, but preferred
  • 10 or more years with leading investments in the renewable energy field
  • 10 or more years’ experience in finance
  • Prior experience with project management or tax equity/financing in the renewable energy field
  • Experience with land contracting, titles and surveys or real estate rights considered a strength
  • A strong understanding of project grid interconnection processes, agreements and elements
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Well-developed problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Creative thinker who can develop unique solutions to problems
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite products
