Role Overview
This role will be a key driver of our client’s next stage of expansion, with a strong focus on accelerating customer growth, strengthening risk oversight, and reinforcing financial and operational rigor. The Vice President of C&I is a newly established senior leadership position that will oversee the day-to-day execution of the commercial business. They will own the design and implementation of an integrated go-to-market approach and work closely across teams ranging from sales to regulatory to operations. Together, these teams will ensure the organization has the capabilities, systems, and talent required to win, support, and retain commercial customers in a scalable and profitable manner.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Define and lead the commercial market entry and expansion approach from strategy through execution
- Take full accountability for commercial performance outcomes, including account growth, revenue quality, and profitability
- Partner closely with sales to design and scale an internal sales function, implementing the workflows, systems, and enablement required for sustained success
- Leverage strong expertise in energy and commodity markets to shape pricing frameworks and commercial offers
- Oversee and improve customer acquisition economics, margin health, and operating costs to ensure alignment with financial objectives
- Work cross-functionally with teams like sales, marketing and operations to deliver and enhance sales, contracting, and billing systems
- Coordinate with Legal and Regulatory teams to confirm all compliance, contracting, and documentation requirements are met for C&I customers
- Align with operations and customer service to ensure commercial accounts are fully supported across onboarding, service delivery, contract administration, and renewal cycles
- Build, manage, and grow high-impact relationships with energy brokers and channel partners, activating your network to accelerate near-term revenue
- Track, analyze, and communicate performance metrics related to customer acquisition, competitive landscape, market conditions, and pricing behavior
- Evolve the commercial growth strategy through testing, analytics, and continuous feedback from customers, partners, and internal teams
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in business, marketing, or a comparable discipline with an advanced degree such as an MBA considered a strong advantage
- Extensive experience selling C&I electricity solutions, ideally within competitive retail power markets relevant to our client
- Demonstrated success building and leading a commercial sales function
- An stablished professional network across Eastern U.S. power markets
- Extensive familiarity with retail electricity deal structures, pricing mechanisms, profitability drivers, and sales channels
- In-depth expertise in Eastern U.S. wholesale and retail electricity markets, including PJM, with strong knowledge of market rules, regulatory frameworks, and intermediary ecosystems
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to convert market data and customer insights into actionable growth and acquisition strategies
- Track record of working effectively across functions and driving outcomes through influence
