Vice President, Mergers & Acquisitions

Role Overview

Our client seeks a Vice President of M&A to lead the company’s joint venture as well as project acquisition efforts. The right candidate for this role will be self-motivated and able to meet specific company growth targets in key regions of the United States.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work cohesively with company executives to determine strategies related to origination
  • Recommend specific courses of action for project acquisitions
  • Determine, negotiate and assess opportunities for joint ventures as well as project acquisitions
  • Develop a strong pipeline of projects to meet company goals
  • Build excellent relationships with stakeholders such as utilities, industry associations, developers, government entities and other partners
  • Perform financial modeling in line with project costs and revenue assumptions
  • Manage the risk analysis and due diligence processes for joint ventures and project acquisitions
  • Work closely with various teams to assess financial, technical and regulatory elements of projects
  • Lead discussions within committees related to company investments
  • Ensure that origination team members are staying within budgets and following correct policies and procedures
  • Lead negotiations with key stakeholders, working alongside finance and legal teams
  • Maintain up to date knowledge and awareness of industry trends
  • Research and share market insights
  • Develop and manage an origination team

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, engineering or similar field. Higher degree is ideal but not required
  • Experience in business development, origination or a similar role within clean energy
  • Deep understanding of specific ISO markets, including processes for interconnection and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience developing and acquiring large-scale clean energy projects, particularly within solar and wind
  • Strong industry relationships and network of contacts
  • Ability to assess and identify opportunities for investment, perform due diligence and negotiate contracts
  • Strong management and team-building skills
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Self-driven and results oriented
  • Strong understanding of technologies, policies and financing within the clean energy industry
