Role Overview

Our client seeks a Senior Originator to find, negotiate, & close transactions related to wholesale power, particularly transactions involving municipal & cooperative sales & generation offtake. This will include clean energy to support cutting-edge technologies & environmental, social & governance (ESG)-related loads, including power purchase agreements & hydrogen generation. The Senior Originator will also manage & develop existing & new customer relationships.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify, originate & negotiate major energy transactions with a large focus on municipal & cooperative customers, carbon-free production, & other key off-takers
  • Develop contract opportunities in alignment with the company’s goals
  • Negotiate operational & financial agreement terms
  • Oversee & manage teams, including sales, legal & other departments
  • Create & lead internal presentations related to contract approvals
  • Communicate market risks to customers
  • Manage & develop relationships with customers

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Energy industry experience with a clean energy focus
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
  • Exceptional understanding of the wholesale energy business & regional energy markets
  • Experience interacting with customers in relation to wholesale agreements
  • Strong networking, negotiation & project management skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Exceptional analytical skills
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel overnight
  • Exceptional knowledge & experience with Microsoft Office Suite products & customer relationship management software
  • Energy storage experience preferred
  • Experience leading commercial transactions & PPA negotiations preferred
  • Clean energy project development experience preferred
  • Experience with data analysis software preferred
