Senior Manager, Business Development (M&A)

Our client is looking for a Senior Manager in Business Development who will be responsible for leading and closing Merger & Acquisitions transactions. This role requires collaboration between development, finance, legal, corporate strategy and construction departments, and reports to the Senior Director. 


The Senior Manager will manage deals for single-asset purchase agreements, pipeline projects, and platform acquisitions. They must be comfortable communicating with internal and external partners and leading a high-performance team. This position is a fast-paced and transaction oriented role that requires quick thinking and strong leadership skills. In this role the Senior Manager will be responsible for management, negotiation and closure of purchase agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate with M&A teams to create and execute strategies that will achieve annual growth targets
  • Incorporate budgeting and financial planning in cross-functional strategies  
  • Transaction and purchase agreement management, negotiation and closing 
  • Manage sourcing, screening and offtake agreements between energy producers 
  • Cross-functional collaboration between internal and external stakeholders about acquisitions and agreements 
  • Develop relationships in the industry to support the goals of strategies
  • Present projects and strategies to the Investment Committee and other global partners


  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred 
  • 5+ years working in the energy industry in roles responsible for commercial transactions, growth strategies, and partner relations
  • Demonstrated experience with successfully closing deals and acquisitions, including Membership Interest Purchase Agreements, Stock Purchase Agreements, and Asset Purchase Agreements
  • Existing relationship in the solar industry preferred
  • Established analytical and pro-forma financial modeling skills 
  • Experience in fast-paced environments where the applicant has been able to deliver under pressure
  • Flexibility in problem-solving, attention to detail, and high standards for themselves and their work
