Role Overview

Our client is looking for a Senior Director/VP of Development to lead site acquisition & development for large-scale solar & battery projects. This role involves guiding a team to secure sites in key markets & advancing projects to interconnection. The ideal candidate has a strong background in acquisition & development, with organizational & team leadership skills. This role offers the chance to build a top-tier development team & grow within an innovative company.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead site acquisition efforts by identifying priority locations, overseeing land agent campaigns, & negotiating deal terms
  • Support the team in securing landowner agreements & ensure accurate documentation for all site activities
  • Guide development by managing & prioritizing the project pipeline, optimizing site layouts, & securing additional land
  • Communicate with company executives to support with growing market segments
  • Maintain an up to date awareness of relevant policies as well as tactics for building strong, positive engagements with community members
  • Prepare preliminary budgets, schedules, & financial assumptions for projects
  • Collaborate with internal teams to assess & mitigate project risks
  • Make informed decisions on project viability

Qualifications

  • Land acquisition & development experience
  • Exceptional abilities in task prioritization, risk identification, & issue management
  • Strong team leadership & performance management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field &/or MBA preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with using mapping platforms
  • Ability to work with a diverse array of stakeholders
  • Familiarity with the full lifecycle of project development
  • Proficient in handling real estate documentation & legal structuring
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Willingness to travel part time
