Sales Director, Eastern U.S.

With strong financial backing from an international energy leader, our client specializes in developing commercial & industrial solar energy, energy storage & electric vehicle projects across North America. They have over a decade of industry experience & their team has delivered thousands of solar projects for businesses, government entities & community solar customers.

Role Overview

The Sales Director will lead sales efforts for distributed generation & energy infrastructure agreements, focusing on solar, storage, & other services across the Eastern U.S. This role involves creating market strategies, driving growth, & guiding key decisions while developing compelling value propositions for clients & investors. Collaborating with a range of teams, the Director will influence client decision-making & align efforts to achieve sales goals while leveraging their expertise in direct sales.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drive sales performance across targeted markets nationwide
  • Oversee both individual & team efforts to consistently exceed annual sales goals
  • Utilize industry expertise in the Eastern region to assess project proposals’ financial viability
  • Identify opportunities to maximize revenue or minimize costs
  • Lead collaboration with departments ranging from finance to engineering to development to streamline market strategies & project development
  • Monitor & analyze new regulatory decisions & programs
  • Identify potential new market opportunities
  • Build & manage a new network of regional partners supporting project development & delivery
  • Take responsibility for tracking sales pipeline performance, ensuring accountability, & providing accurate forecasts
  • Lead contract negotiations for project documents
  • Maintain high sales momentum, continuously seeking strategic opportunities to refine the company’s approach
  • Mentor junior sales team members through the full sales process
  • Hire & onboard new sales talent as necessary to meet business needs
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure lead generation efforts & conferences align with sales objectives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Direct sales experience in energy services across the Eastern U.S
  • Proven track record of surpassing sales targets
  • Team management experience
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written & spoken
  • Proven leadership ability in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong skills in understanding customer needs & crafting compelling value propositions
  • Self-driven with the ability to manage diverse relationships & multiple complex projects
  • Creative & strategic thinking to solve industry & client-specific challenges
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, & PowerPoint
  • Experience in solar or Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) is a plus
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to build relationships through proactive outreach
