At the intersection of the Marketing, Client Service, Business Development, and Partner (leadership) teams, the Market Development Associate will perform a new role in spotlighting the distinctive value of client’s industry knowledge, track record, team, client focus and innovation in the marketplace via the creation of high-impact knowledge content across several communication channels.
The Market Development Associate plays a client-facing role throughout the sales cycle, supporting efforts with client presentation development for practitioner and economic decision-maker meetings, as well as proposal writing. The ongoing client contact provides first-hand feedback to shape the broader set of knowledge and communication materials.
Business Development (BD) team coordination and firm-wide pipeline management also feature as core responsibilities of this role. The Market Development Associate will work with CEO and other BD and client service leaders to manage and lead bi-weekly meetings, and maintain and evolve business development analytics.
Impact for this role will be evaluated via company’s personal development framework, which includes a set of qualitative development areas, and key performance indicators. Particular focus will be placed on 1) achieving a step change in the quality, consistency and impact of external facing communication materials, 2) shifting from ad-hoc communications to a regular cadence with high-impact knowledge pieces, 3) increased traction and positive feedback on client proposals, 4) increased efficiency in firmwide pipeline management.
Duties and Responsibilities – Example Job Roles
Knowledge and content communication
o Collaborate with client service teams to distill innovation and learnings emanating from client engagements and market trends
o Track 3rd party content for competitive intelligence, NGO and developer updates (news articles, b/vlog posts, webinars, research papers) as inputs for company’s own communications
o Develop high-impact content across a range of communication media including case studies, whitepapers, newsletters, website, social media, videos, and conference presentations
o Assist with development of company marketing collateral
o Manage and optimize company website presence
Conferences and industry events
o Support team with conference activities, including abstracts and promotional materials
Measure progress and effectiveness of client and market outreach programs (social media, e-newsletter, website, events)
Collaborate with senior leaders (CEO, client service and business development) to:
o Develop presentation content and participate in practitioner and economic decision-maker meetings throughout the sales cycle
o Lead proposal writing to support high probability new client opportunities
Manage business development pipeline and analytics activities
o Manage and lead bi-weekly meetings with senior leadership team
o Maintain and evolve business development analytics
Knowledge, Qualifications, and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree with excellent grades from a challenging undergraduate program
• Three or more years of experience engaging with Fortune 500, higher ed institutions
• Strong oral and written communication skills; able to communicate complex matter in a simple, concise manner
• Passion for sustainability, the energy industry and/or renewables
• Strong sense of ownership/self-motivation; professional and organized with an ability to deliver on tight deadlines in an agile, growth-focused environment
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in an unstructured and flexible environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with individuals ranging from varied experience levels and backgrounds
• Strong and creative problem-solving skills, and comfort completing quantitative and qualitative analyses
• Ability to learn quickly, even in areas with limited experience or knowledge
