Manager of Business Development

Our client’s mission is to create and maintain solar assets that pave the way for a cleaner future with less carbon. They provide investors with attractive returns through land acquisition, leases, and solar projects. For developers, they offer a way to optimize project costs while reducing risk by streamlining the land acquisition and management process.

They are seeking an individual who is looking for a high growth, fast paced opportunity with a well-funded and rapidly growing organization. The Business Development Manager is responsible for the origination and closing of lease acquisition and land acquisition transactions. They will coordinate the marketing coordination and form and maintain excellent relationships with partners. They are seeking an experienced individual that has knowledge of the real estate acquisition deal cycle, a great track record of closing deals. Solar experience preferred.

Job Requirements

  • Responsible for driving the acquisition process of land acquisition and lease acquisition transactions throughout the western part of the United States.
  • Includes origination of potential transactions through developing and maintaining excellent relationships with key developers, installers, project owners and landowners.
  • Price prospective deals, with an attention to detail and quality control.
  • Put together Offer Letters, proposals and presentations in order to secure land acquisition and lease acquisition transactions.
  • Effectively organize and process due diligence and closing on transactions as needed.
  • Coordinate and execute new market research and analysis as needed.
  • Organize and track business development efforts; participate in weekly internal sales calls.
  • Interface with partners and assist in providing financial and transactional support during pre-transaction and post-transaction involvement.
  • Attend trade shows, community events and other necessary business development events.
  • Travel to meet with key accounts and partners throughout the year.
  • Answer customer inquiries via telephone or e‐mail.
  • Compile lists of prospective partners for use as business development leads, based on information from business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, interconnection queues, state and local permitting agencies, and other sources. Follow‐up and coordinate lead development with sales team.
  • Support forecasting activities, opportunity tracking, and reporting activities in Salesforce.
  • Work with internal and external marketing teams to plan and coordinate partner / customer marketing efforts.
  • Other duties may be assigned by direct report.

KnowledgeQualifications, and Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience working either in a Sales or Business Development role.
  • Strong experience in networking with business partners, consumers, landowners, or equivalent.
  • Strong experience in a process-based sales approach starting from initial prospecting to contacting potential partners and closing transactions.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Excel in pricing deals using an established model.
  • Experience in closing renewable energy or real estate transactions; experience in the solar industry preferred.
  • College degree in either business or technical related field, advanced degree a plus.
  • High level of proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Adobe.
  • Self-starting work ethic and the ability to effectively work with limited direction.
  • Interest in a high paced, start-up minded organization.
