The Manager, Finance and Corporate Development, is responsible for the execution of project finances, M&A transactions, and investment approvals in alignment with our client’s strategic objectives. This individual provides complete analytical support and defensible recommendations to internal stakeholders for the purpose of driving value to the company’s operating portfolio and development pipeline.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead key workstreams in the structuring, execution, and negotiation of economic and non-economic terms of project finance and M&A transactions for our client’s development pipeline. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Lead the economic analysis via project modeling, scenario analysis, and coordination with third party advisors.
    • Coordinate the due diligence process across the organization and own the associated project timeline.
    • Independently direct coordination across internal functional groups, third-party financing parties, and outside advisors in order to drive successful execution.
    • Review, comment, and share feedback on deal documentation, including negotiating with counterparties on economic terms, and non-economic terms where applicable.
  • Form a recommendation, draft an execution plan, prepare materials, and coordinate the process for the company and/or Investment Committee approval processes, when appropriate
  • Provide analytical support (via ad hob Excel based analyses or other established processes) on the optimization of our client’s operating assets, development pipeline and/or periodic forecasting process for Development, Engineering & Construction, Origination, and FP&A teams.
  • Manage Analysts staffed to each project through task management and planning, review of analyst work, and general accountability for the timing and quality of deliverables of analyst resources
  • Support hiring, training, and ongoing development of analyst resources for the Finance & Corporate Development team
  • Leverage knowledge of the business unit to continuously identify and execute opportunities to improve our client’s risk profile and business results
  • Support execution of tax equality financings for FID assets, with particular focus on ensuring all due diligence questions are addressed and consultant reports are completed in a timely fashion. Coordinate and ensure accuracy of all updates to project model in line with final project and transactional parameters
  • Develop presentations for senior management that effectively communicate the results of financial modeling and diligence activities in support of business decisions
  • Lead financial evaluation of potential M&A and revenue RFP opportunities and prepare summary materials with recommendation(s) for required approvals
  • Develop a high-performing, highly motivated team of Analysts with particular focus on optimization of commercial outcomes and attention to detail across all relevant tasks
  • Coordinate preparation of Investment Committee materials
  • Provide finance and analytical support to functional areas across the business unit as necessary

KnowledgeQualifications, and Experience

  • 6+ years’ experience in project finance and/or M&A roles focused primarily on utility-scale wind or solar projects with demonstrated transaction execution experience, particularly in tax equity
  • A Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or engineering
  • Master user in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and drive high-level performance from two to four junior and mid-level team members in a deadline-driven environment
  • Deep understanding of value drivers of business cases for renewable energy projects and demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to optimize economic outcomes
  • Superior analytical and financial modeling skills, combined with critical thinking and a flexible attitude
  • Keen attention to detail, with capacity to drive this best practices downloads
  • Sound understanding of financial modeling of Investment and Production Tax Credit Investments
