Our client is looking for a Project Development Leader to manage a growing international portfolio of renewable hydrogen development projects. This team member will have a significant and long-term impact on the company & the decarbonization sector as a whole.
Opportunity
The Project Development Leader will have responsibilities related to land control, permitting & interconnection for green hydrogen projects worldwide. They will also be involved in customer relations & development. Additionally, the Development Leader will recruit for & manage the development team & report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. They will work to help our client accomplish their major goals: 300 megawatts under construction or in operation, 3,000 megawatts in the project pipeline & being IPO-ready, all by 2025.
The ideal applicant will be able to manage & mentor less-experienced developers, close deals & effectively lead, motivate & articulate the values of the company.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop land rights strategies & supervise the negotiation of land leases & easements.
- Oversee permit acquisition for Federal, State & Local land use.
- Manage the evaluation of transmission alternatives & oversee the interconnection process.
- Collaborate internally to secure hydrogen purchase agreements for projects.
- Coordinate renewables procurement activities with the project director.
- Coordinate engineering, procurement & pre-construction activities with the technical services leader.
- Prepare & track project development budgets & schedule.
- Embrace & leverage the local-partner orientation for project development success.
- Play an important role in the company’s growth & development by securing capital for future projects.
- Bring a ‘whatever it takes’ attitude to achieve project development success.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, preference for engineering or related science disciplines. MBA and/or other advanced degrees a strong plus.
- Seven plus (7+) years of project management & development experience in energy.
- Proven ability to build & manage cross-functional development teams.
- Proven track record of taking industrial/energy projects from site identification to financial close.
- Professional experience with:
- Oil & gas, midstream, gas-fired power, LNG, industrial gasses or other molecule-based development projects.
- Offtake, EPC & other commercial & financial contracts.
- Rapidly-evolving incentive frameworks (i.e. PTC/ITC) & demand-drivers (RPS).
- Helping to shape emerging industry segments during their early phases (when there is still a lot of uncertainty & white space), is preferred.
- Ability to lead & build strong relationships by leveraging communication skills & an entrepreneurial attitude.
