Distributed Energy Market Manager

AiGent has retained Dylan Green to lead the recruitment for its next Distributed Energy Market Manager in support of the company’s strategic growth initiatives.

The Company

AiGent Energy is building a next-generation software platform that helps organizations unlock the full value of distributed energy resources. By applying advanced AI to aggregate, coordinate, and monetize these assets across both wholesale and retail power markets, AiGent enables commercial, institutional, and industrial customers—as well as utilities and grid operators—to boost reliability, enhance sustainability, and turn underutilized assets into valuable revenue streams.

Role Overview

AiGent is looking for an experienced energy market manager to lead the participation of distributed energy resources (DERs) in wholesale power markets. In this pivotal position, you’ll combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution — designing scalable systems, building market processes, and driving daily performance to maximize the value of megawatts in competitive energy markets.

The ideal candidate is a data-driven problem solver with a strong track record in wholesale power participation, distributed generation, and market operations. You excel at building cross-functional collaboration, creating innovative solutions, and translating complex requirements into seamless execution. Your mission: develop the infrastructure and ecosystem that can reliably integrate MW into the grid and continuously optimize their market performance at scale.

Previous experience working directly with DERs and participating in wholesale energy markets is essential for this role.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design and implement the registration workflows needed to bring assets into targeted wholesale energy markets
  • Oversee every step of the registration process with precision and a strong focus on accuracy
  • Lead the evaluation and execution of a “build vs. buy” approach for the platforms and tools required to achieve world-class operational performance
  • Architect and deploy scalable processes and technologies that manage the entire market participation lifecycle — from interval data collection and offer submission to dispatch coordination, settlement, and ongoing market interactions
  • Align and streamline the responsibilities of multiple internal and external stakeholders into cohesive, data-driven processes
  • Develop robust load models and forecasting capabilities to improve asset performance and market outcomes
  • Oversee the acquisition, management, and analysis of operational data to inform strategy and decision-making
  • Collaborate with go-to-market teams to design tools and resources that enhance value delivery for prospective customer
  • Shape and contribute to regulatory strategies that advance the company’s position and market participation opportunities
  • Partner closely with engineering teams to ensure all systems are integrated, optimized, and working together effectively
  • Ensure seasonal program deliverables are completed on schedule, including asset testing and validation ahead of market participation
  • Define and lead the development of business metrics that generate actionable insights and drive continuous improvement
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track strategic priorities, milestones, and overall team performance
  • Play a pivotal role in shaping the long-term strategy — this is a high-impact position with significant opportunities for leadership and professional growth

Qualifications

  • Deep commitment to AiGent’s mission and guiding principles
  • Proven background working within wholesale electricity markets
  • Required: Hands-on experience enrolling megawatts with regional grid operators
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data handling and system development
  • Track record of designing and deploying scalable systems and workflows
  • Extensive experience working in distributed energy resource (DER) environments
  • Strategic thinker with a structured, action-oriented approach and consistent follow-through
  • Exceptional precision and accuracy in all aspects of work
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing skill growth and professional development
  • Inspiring and imaginative team leader with a talent for motivating others
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation communication abilities
  • Preferred experience deploying multi-team technology platforms across an organization
  • Bonus: Background in virtual power plant (VPP) or distributed generation aggregation industries
  • Fully remote position — candidates should thrive in a self-directed, virtual work environment and have the setup needed to succeed

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package including base salary, performance-based bonus, and equity in a growing early-stage company
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and retirement coverage including a 401(k) plan
  • Full premium coverage for health, dental, and vision insurance for full-time employees
  • Choice of two healthcare plans: a traditional plan with an FSA or a high-deductible plan with an HSA funded monthly by the company
  • Company-provided basic term life insurance
  • Access to additional optional insurance programs
  • Flexible paid time off to recharge and take time when needed
  • Fully remote work model — contribute from anywhere in the U.S. without a daily commute
  • Opportunity to make a direct impact on accelerating the clean energy transition
  • Collaborative, mission-driven team culture that values innovation and new ideas
