Development Project Manager

Our client is an independent power producer that is focused on the origination, development, acquisition & financing of solar energy projects across the U.S. The company has been in business for over a decade & owns & operates solar projects in small utility-scale, commercial & industrial markets. Our client also has uniquely simple & straightforward internal protocols & processes as well as strong financing relationships that enable it to compete with larger sized organizations & develop projects more efficiently.

The Role

Our client seeks a Development Project Manager to spearhead the development of decentralized solar energy & energy storage projects. The Development Project Manager will support projects from initial acquisition through to the construction handover.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead project development initiatives for the company
  • Research & find potential development opportunities & identify risks
  • Perform due diligence related to acquisitions
  • Handle preconstruction budgets & schedules
  • Assess potential origination opportunities
  • Work closely with both external & internal stakeholders
  • Obtain necessary permits, agreements & approvals
  • Work collaboratively with authorities having jurisdiction
  • Create contract attachments for EPC company agreements
  • Handle budgets, resources & timelines for each project
  • Develop & manage relationships with third parties
  • Remain up to date on industry topics & trends

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, environment, or related field. Master’s degree preferred but not required
  • Project development experience within the solar energy industry. Energy storage experience is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to solve complex problems
  • Experience with land agreements, title insurance & real estate
  • Understanding of government requirements & environmental regulations
  • Comfortability & familiarity with interconnection applications & agreements
  • Demonstrable success in project management
  • Exceptional communication & interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated & able to work independently
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Ability to travel up to one-third of the time
