Role Overview
Our client is looking for a dynamic and strategic Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to drive its commercial vision and execution. This executive will be responsible for revenue generation, market growth, key partnerships, and optimizing the customer journey across various sectors. The CCO will be a vital leader in shaping the company’s competitive position and long-term expansion. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in the energy sector, particularly in Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) and utility collaborations, along with a strong history of building and scaling high-performing commercial teams.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive market strategy to drive revenue and business expansion
- Oversee key commercial areas, including sales, marketing, business development, customer experience, and strategic alliances
- Work closely with the leadership team to refine company direction, optimize product positioning, and establish long-term objectives
- Identify and target high-growth opportunities across residential, commercial, industrial, and public sectors
- Create scalable frameworks for integrating Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), Virtual Power Plants (VPPs), and grid services to establish market leadership
- Assess and introduce new business models, revenue opportunities, and pricing strategies
- Build and strengthen partnerships with utilities, grid operators, and other critical industry stakeholders
- Structure and negotiate complex agreements, such as power purchase contracts, strategic collaborations, and financial partnerships
- Represent the company at key industry events, regulatory discussions, and policy forums
- Recruit, develop, and lead a top-tier commercial team focused on performance, innovation, and collaboration
- Coordinate with product, engineering, and operations teams to align offerings with market demand and customer needs
- Promote a deep understanding of customer insights and industry trends throughout the organization
Qualifications
- A history of increasing responsibility in commercial leadership or business development, preferably within clean energy, distributed energy resources (DERs), or the utility industry
- Proven ability to drive revenue growth, expand market presence, and navigate complex stakeholder relationships
- Extensive expertise in DER solutions, including solar, energy storage, demand response, and electric vehicles, as well as utility program structures and grid advancements
- Skilled in structuring and negotiating high-value agreements
- Exceptional leadership and communication abilities
- A history of effectively engaging both internal teams and external partners
- Forward-thinking strategist with a hands-on approach
- A strong drive for execution in dynamic, fast-moving environments
